FAWM

February Album Writing Month (FAWM) is an online challenge partaken by thousands of musicians every year in which you attempt to write 14 songs in 28 days. In a very real sense, it is the reason I write.

Prior to 2008, I’d never *really* written a song. Through a strange set of circumstances, I got pulled into the orbit of FAWM, and in 2009 I spent February in my basement. And I wrote 14 songs.

They were horrible, but they were mine, and over the next few years I kept coming back, and the songs kept getting better, and I started working with musicians from around the world, collaborating on anything that came to mind. Since then, I’ve written a few hundred songs with people who are now some of my best friends.

Every song on my three releases was written during FAWM or its marathon cousin 50/90. Here’s a collection of songs from recent FAWMs that haven’t made it to an album yet, but might someday.
